Nate:
As a first-time father, I cannot imagine going through my partner’s childbirth without the assistance and knowledge that Viergeni provided. From prenatal visits, to the beginning stages of labor, to postpartum follow-ups, Viergeni was 100% present for every important moment. She gave us crucial support and comfort and made the experience of childbirth memorable and meaningful.
When there were complications in our birth and our baby had to be transferred to the NICU, Viergeni helped us navigate that complicated period, helping interface between us and the hospital, guiding my partner through breastfeeding and expression, and helping us prepare for newborn parenting.
I appreciated that Viergeni didn’t just help my laboring partner, but also showed me ways I could offer support—from massage, to breathing, to words of encouragement. Viergeni helped me play an integral role in the birth process, an experience I’ll always treasure.
Whitney:
Having Viergeni as our doula was the single best decision my husband and I made in preparation for the birth of our son Moses. My labor and delivery lasted 44 hours (!!!) and Viergeni never wavered in her ability to be there us and to make us feel supported. Throughout the many unexpected twists and turns--laboring at home, at our birth center, getting transferred to the hospital, having an emergency C-section, and then dealing with our baby being in the NICU-- Viergeni was there as a calm and confident presence, guiding us through. She was a constant source of strength, reassurance, and knowledge for both me and my husband as we faced many difficult decisions and challenging experiences. She made me feel in control and heard even when our plans dramatically changed course, and she helped ease us what could have been very scary experiences with a nurturing and loving touch, making sure that we had a positive birth experience and our emotional and physical needs we taken care of- down to bringing a blanket for my husband and stringing little fairy lights around my labor and delivery room to make it more homey and combat the aggressive hospital lighting. She thought of literally everything. And even after the birth of Moses Viergeni stayed with us and helped us navigate the very challenging experience of having our baby in the NICU and the trauma I had experienced having my baby taken away from me as soon as he was born. She helped me start breastfeeding and bond with my baby and made me feel like a mom (and a good one at that) when I was struggling with the transition. She stuck with us in ways that were so above and beyond the call of duty and my husband and I will forever be grateful for the grace and love and expertise she demonstrated during our days at the hospital.
I cannot recommend Viergeni enough to any expectant parents. She is an exceptional doula and a wonderful person and we feel lucky to know her and have had her at our side as we brought Moses into the world. She is, quite simply, the best.
